Illustration Friday - GROW - 19 October 2007

This topic reminded me of being at primary school when for science we put a bean seed against the wall of a jam jar and held it in place with blotting paper which was kept moist. There was a race to see whose seed would sprout first.

Of course, some of us forgot to keep the blotting paper watered and our seeds died, others never grew at all but some were magnificent and grew out of the jam jar and across the desk.

I could only think of "extreme temperatures" and wondered how to illustrate them. Decided on the animals eventually and then got in a bit of a muddle! Again!

A difficult topic this week. Couldn't draw anything so decided to make a car out of the letters!

As you can see from the evidence I belong to the amateur category of painters/drawers. In fact, I think I have forgotten how to draw! Illustration Friday fascinates me and I have had several attempts at home illustrating the given topics and have been so impressed with the ideas people have come up with.

I liked the topic "Visitors". Having kept animals all my life we know all about the little visitors they have. I also remember the "Nit Nurse"!
